SGS Life Science Services, the leading pharmaceutical analytical and bioanalytical contract solutions provider, today announced the the completion of its fifth North American Life Science Services laboratory, in Carson, California.
The new, 8,000 sq. ft. GMP/GLP facility houses 6,000 square feet of dedicated laboratory space and 2,000 square feet of offices, conference rooms, and client records. The laboratory will provide microbiological testing and bioanalytical services and will initially employ seven scientific staff, with room for expansion in relation to customer demand and will be officially opened at a ceremony on October 23rd.
“This strategic expansion to the West Coast will provide local support to the well-established Californian pharmaceutical and biotechnological community,” commented Jeff McDonald, Chief Operating Officer, SGS North America. “The laboratory complements our existing bioanalytical offer and we look forward to welcoming existing and new clients to visit this state-of-the-art facility in October.”
SGS recently announced two key appointments at the Carson site. Dr. Marcella McSorley has joined as Quality Assurance Manager and will have a key role in the implementation of a robust quality management system at the new site, while Ms. Pojaman Zunggeemoge is the facility’s new Microbiology Manager and will focus on the practical management of the Microbiology Department at Carson and ensuring the on-going compliance with SOPs.
With 21 laboratories offering contract analytical and bioanalytical services, SGS leverages its wholly-owned global network, present in North America, Europe, and Asia, to deliver harmonized solutions to large pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. In addition to testing services for the bio/pharmaceutical market, SGS also provides clinical trial management (Phase I to IV) and services encompassing data management and statistics, PK/PD modeling and simulation, pharmacovigilance and regulatory consultancy.
