Parainfluenza 3 (PI3V) is a virus that causes respiratory diseases in calves, from the common cold to advanced pneumonia.
Virus transmission occurs through respiratory aerosols or direct contact with infected animals, resulting in a highly contagious disease that requires careful monitoring to lower incidence rates and enable disease control. Diagnostic kits for PI3V are widely available to control the serological status of cattle. To manufacture these kits, it is necessary to make reproducible batches of PI3V.
